To remove the bottom bearing clip from the bottom of the chair pneumatic, take a flat-head screwdriver and insert the flat edge of the screwdriver and wedge it in between the empty space in the loop of the clip.  Apply some pressure and slide the clip off.  You can then slide the outer sleeve off the inner shaft.  This step is necessary if you would need to use only the inner shaft of the office chair lift.
